Julia draws her strength from her life experiences and education when it comes to managing The Miracles Club. Her first job working with the recovering community was with an inner-city spiritual treatment program known as Stay Clean Inc.; they catered to the late stage African American addict. Coming out of the grips of addiction herself and wanting to change the world, her way did not work. She was given a referral to the state-run entry level counselor program. She completed the program, completed her practicum hours, and completed her CADC test. She has not looked backed since. She has been working in the field of addiction and mental health services since December 2000.

Fletcher grew up in Los Angeles, CA, known to be the birthplace of American gang culture. This environment, with its many ethnic and urban cultures, taught him the importance of culture agility, inclusivity, respect, and acceptance - which he embodies today. As a Black Male, Fletcher has experienced the trauma of systemic racism, though he’s never let it deter him from his goals. It is his lived experience, determination and compassion that Fletcher brings into each day, working to ensure the growth and mental health of Black Professional Peers.

Amee' struggled with substance use that led to her living on a bike path & houseless. She ended up losing custody of her four kids and in and out of institutions. Amee' was introduced to recovery by O'Nesha Cochran (at the time, a peer mentor; currently the Sr. Director at The Miracles Club) at a hospital when recovering from substance use related health issues. She managed to transition from the hospital to the nursing home into treatment. Though that was just the beginning of her challenges, Amee' was able to navigate finding her own recovery pathway, as well as navigating DHS systems to gain custody of her four kids, while actively participating in a culturally specific intensive outpatient & successfully graduating. Amee' was a success story of what mentor services can do. She then went on to get her Certified Recovery Mentor certification in 2018 and has been working in the behavioral health field since. With 6 Years of Mentoring Experience and 4 years of supervisor experience in nonprofit work, Amee’ isn’t ready to stop - she is currently enrolled in the Addictions Counseling Program Amee's approach is supportive of all pathways while employing methods that empower individuals through a person-directed, empowerment-led approach. One of her favorite quotes is “Without Unity and Compassion we fall”.

Kayla Moore is a 29-year-old Afro-Indigenous Mom, with three beautiful boys and a daughter on the way. She has lived experience with addiction, the penal system and gun violence. She was shot 8 times and credits the love for her children for her motivation to change. "I may have never experienced the depths of addiction the way others have but I know what it is like to see someone you love lost due to drugs. Which is I love street outreach. Every person I help on the streets is someone's mom, aunt, father, brother or child and I hope through my work, some of them will make it home to those who love them most."

While battling a 30-year alcohol and drug addiction, I moved from state to state until I got sober for the first time in my life over 6 years ago in Eugene, Oregon. Early in my recovery, I enrolled at Lane Community College's Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor program. Like many addicts in early recovery, I thought I could maintain sobriety on sheer willpower. That worked for a while...until it didn't. I eventually relapsed. When I came back to recovery, I learned the value of having a mentor, working a 12-step program, and staying connected to a support network of like-minded individuals who actively participate in their own recovery. Today, I am enrolled at Portland Community College, and much closer to achieving my original goal of being a CADC. You can find me at The Miracles Club or out in the community with our team of mentors helping people with a desire for change and a new way of living.

I am originally from San Bernardino, California. The early part of my career was in retail, before transitioning to the healthcare field. I joined The Miracles Club as a Peer Mentor/Outreach Worker in September of 2023. I like to consider myself one part relatable and one part adaptable. The best part of what I do? Hands down, it’s helping those who are striving to better themselves. Most of us who have been impacted by the war on drugs are good people who have lost their way. I believe we are the only ones who can rebuild our community. I became a Peer Mentor because I wanted to give back. Not only do I want to continue to make my family proud of the changes I've made, but I want to support other people as they learn to love themselves and one day be proud of who they have become. A true realist in every way, I enjoy spending time learning ways I can contribute to bettering my community and spending time with family and friends.

I am a person in long time recovery, Clean time date 11/26/2003 I grew up in the system foster Holmes from the age of two till around 12 years of age and come from a broken home. Physical abuse and drug and alcohol abuse. As well as mental abuse. I also have many years in the penitentiary. Long story short I am a person with life lived experiences. Today I use the wreckage and bad choices of my past to meet addicts, alcoholics and criminals where they are at and lead by example that change is possible through education, recovery and positive choices to change. I share with addicts many different types of recovery, not one shoe fits all. I Love to watch people grow and change mentally, physically, and spiritually. To be a positive part of the solution, leading by example. Together we begin the process of change. We can do together what we cannot do alone.

Shane Dorn grew up in Portland, Oregon. His active drug use caused him a tremendous amount of trauma including experiencing houselessness, living with a drug induced psychosis, going to jail multiple times and serving 3 years in prison. Shane credits finding recovery to attending 12-step recovery meetings, having a sponsor and working the steps. "Helping the still suffering addict and giving back to my community is me living out my dream. I remember what it was like to be on the bottom with no support. So, I am extremely passionate about helping others like me!"

My addiction took me to levels I never imagined I would go - lying, manipulating, stealing, low self-esteem and losing all self respect. I was in a dark place and gave up believing in myself - the god, morals and values I was taught as a child, I had lost it all. Facing time for some of the wrongs I had done to society, it was suggested by loved ones to try a different approach because I couldn't get clean. It was time to make a change. I was getting too old and streets were getting real old, friends dying foolishly and death was all around me. I wanted better. I knew there was a better person inside, I just had to help her by taking the necessary steps. So I entered detox on 3-7-23 and have remained clean ever since. I help others to show them that anything is possible and this program does work, keep coming back it works if you work it! I want to give back to my community where it is so needed. It builds my character and keeps me strong in my recovery. Being openly gay and black in the community where it is so hard to be understood, my commitment is to reach back and help others from all walks of life. Trainings & Certifications: Harm Reduction; Professional Ethics and Boundaries; CPR Certification, LGBTQ Ethics; Cultural specific Trainings; Naloxone/Narcan administration.
